Other information:
The Tugubele or Madeö figurines are linked to divination and the Sandogo women’s society. They represent nature or forest spirits. Diviners (Sando) place them on their personal altars. It is believed that the spirits are attracted by the beauty of the figures and the music, facilitating communication with the spirit world. They are usually smaller than the Pombibele figures, are sculpted with great detail, and are commonly seen in pairs of twins or as horsemen.
